A Dolphin’s Journal of Events

Anyone have any creative ideas on what to do with 3 Unused DirecTV Boxes? Standard Def, Model D10, has a serial port on the back [labeled 'Low Speed Data']. I wanted to make a cluster out of them somehow, even if it’s super-low-speed, but hey, they’d be some use. I have no idea why DirecTV just gave them to us, probably because they don’t sell used units, and this is the cheap way to “recycle” them, ha.

From my understanding, the serial port on the back only allows other devices to control the box [ie. change channel, etc, nothing special]. It’d be interesting to find a way to replace the firmware with something though..

I’d hate to pollute my blog with posts like this, but meh, who reads this anyways?

I’ve been a tad depressed about random junk lately, and have been working on redirecting my focus on where I want it most: Dolphins. Heh.

As such some other projects may be abandoned for now. I kinda want to pull together the dolphin art community, which is going to take some time. Why? I don’t know, they all seem like interesting people that would be interesting to pull together.. somehow.

Of course as most of my projects, it’ll probably be abandoned before I get out of planning it. Sucks but it’s the truth of me.

I’ve kinda gone with whatever I can do easily, and I’m kinda starting to figure out it’s definately not the path I want to go.

Ok enough mindless blahing, I’m going to finish up some capped stuff then… I donno. Let’s see what happens.
