Appologies for the language. Comic from xkcd
Took a hour to render to avi file, which is way too long if you ask me, it’s suppose to run realtime.
Finally, a demo with a theme! In typical MFX style.
5th computer from my Custom PC Building service was shipped out 2 weeks ago, after I polished out all my fingerprints on the highly reflective case.
As ussual, UPS recommended me to put insurence on it, as normal, I did. This time the computer was off to one of my friends in Canada. Canada inspects all packages that come into the country, which means takes the item out of it’s packaging and checks everything in the box. For computers, they actually open up the casing of the pc and check the inside, even if it’s a nice window case.
The receaver of this computer found the front end broke off, the packaging messed up, and to top it all off, the computer didn’t turn on. It was in perfect condition when I sent it. I’m glad he had some experience with hardware, or he’d have to send it back. Instead I instructed him how to open up the case, he reported that there were wires marked “Power Switch”, “Power LED”, etc that were not connected. Well obviously that would be the problem.
After he connected all those [and glued the front case back on... someone broke the tabs that held it on somehow], the pc still didn’t turn on. I went through the basic “is it plugged into a working socket”, “is the DIP switch set on 115″, etc, all was fine. I was about to ask my friend who’s familar with computers to have a look at it [since it's better then paying for shipping back and forth, and of course have this happen AGAIN].
But then this happend:
21:47:08 [blipo] MICK
21:47:17 [micksam7] HI
21:47:20 [blipo] Guess what
21:47:23 [micksam7] what?
21:48:41 [blipo] My dad is technologically-illiterate, up until today.
21:48:48 [blipo] He came into my room and asked me if he could help. I said sure.
21:48:58 [blipo] He reached in, grabbed something, and snapped it off.
21:49:04 [blipo] Then he turned my computer on.
21:49:25 [blipo] He won’t tell me what he did, and I’m sure I heard him say “powned” when it turned on.
21:49:30 [blipo] My dad is so fucking weird.
And that’s how my day went. I recommended him to ask UPS for some cash for his troubles, since it was insured. He hasn’t had a problem since that though.
The moral of this story: Don’t ship to Canada.
