Running on Air

Friday, July 28th, 2006

I’m running lighttpd for my site right now. IIS was getting annoying on win2k. Windows 2003 works a lot better for IIS it seems. Also, lighttpd is running on a faster machine too. So hopefully less load time for php stuffets.

However, there seems to be a lot of random php crashing. I don’t know why. Possibly APC is causing the crash?

My photo gallery will remain down. For some reason, it seems to infinate loop somewhere and use 100% cpu on both servers. Donno what happend. I went ahead and moved the directory for now.

Free Fish Monthly Report

Monday, July 17th, 2006

Today at 4 AM in the morning I decided to write up a quick report with what’s going on.

I’m getting my drivers permit today [finnally].
I posted a birthday card I made today.
I’m working on the RuneScript project now.
I’ve yet to do anything on RsS2 [for the RuneScript project].
I’ve been watching Ask a Ninja.
I’ve been playing RuneScape [Magic 56 | Cooking 52 | Woodcut 63 | Firemaking 52 | Runecraft 30].
spling has left for 3 months of work.
Mick is sad because of spling leaving.
I’m upgrading my video card to a GeForce 7900 GT KO 512 MB [eVGA].
I’ve been meaning to paint and do more art and perhaps story work again.
I failed PEII virtual highschool session because I canceled on the wrong date and didn’t know it till a week later.
I miss Missy.
I haven’t seen a dolphin in over a year.
I haven’t done anything php-wise besides RsS2 [RuneScript Sync Server] and won’t for a while.
I’m hungry.

Well there you have it. That’s the end of the update. I’ll try to blog more.

Bye now.

More Info

Generally we made a specialized IRC to IM bridge for RuneScript. Used SmartIRC.php and Class_Jabber.php with the loops changed around. A bit of work. Used jabber transports for MSN, AIM, and Yahoo. RuneScript will still be avalible for IRC.

We’ve haven’t had much load yet. As far as we’ve tested the system works excellently under light load with plenty of room for higher loads. I’m not sure how much we can handle, but about 300-500 commands per minute max seems like a good estimate. Right now we are getting 1-20 messages per minute through this with very little impact to our bots and the bridge script.

Eventually if this takes off we’ll need to revamp this a lot. I was hoping to use libgaim or gaim remote originally, but it didn’t work out as intended. If we begin to get major load we’ll need to try and work something out with IM networks or create multiple IM bridges [bleh]. Anyway, so far we’ve only had problems with Yahoo disconnecting us every few hours, besides that everything on the IM side has been working great.

And etc.
